School Leader or Board Chair Succession Planning

This workshop equips charter school boards with the knowledge and tools to proactively plan for the transition of the school leader or board chair. Participants will identify essential steps in designing a succession plan that aligns with the school’s charter goals and accountability expectations, review sample policies, tools, and templates for school leader or board chair succession, and draft or refine an initial framework tailored to their school’s specific context.

Board Member Recruitment & Onboarding

This workshop focuses on developing intentional, mission-aligned strategies for recruiting and onboarding new board members. Participants will explore best practices for identifying and attracting individuals whose skills and values align with the school’s mission, analyze their current board composition to define priority areas for recruitment, and create an actionable plan to strengthen recruitment and onboarding practices that build engagement, clarity of roles, and long-term commitment.
